Welcome to Don Juan's Mexico Kitchen.  I won't go into why my Mexican friends nicknamed me "Don Juan," but in my opinion there are two things that make life worth living; good food and beautiful women. One of the main reasons I live in Mexico is that there is an abundance of both here.

Unfortunately, in my experience, beautiful women are not always the best cooks.  For this reason, I decided many years ago to learn to cook for myself.  Inside are a few of the recipes from my kitchen.  Bookmark this page now and come back often.  I will try to give you  some new recipes every week.

All of the recipes here are authentic. In most cases I still use the original ingredients such as lard (manteca in Spanish).  You can substitute a vegetable shortening if you wish, but this will alter the taste somewhat.

I also use original Mexican kitchen utensils for food preparation.  A salsa made in a molcajete just simply tastes better than one made in a blender.  Where this is not the case, I will break with tradition.  But if you think Mexican food comes from Taco Bell, you're in for a shock.

Now I know your kitchen may not be equipped with a comal or a molcajete or molinillo.  You made not even have masa, chilies, or Mexican chocolate tabs.  Well you are in luck.  Some of these things can be substituted. When possible, I will try to show you how.  Better yet, go to Mexican Products on-line store and order the items you need to prepare your dishes properly.
